Perennial of the week - Pincushion Flower (Pink Mist)


PERENNIAL OF THE WEEK
 
Pincushion Flower, aka Scabiosa columbaria (Pink Mist)

·         Prefers full sun to partial sun

·         Light pink/lavendar flowers top tall thin stems

·         Finely cut  blue gray/green foliage that grows in clumps

·         Grows to 12-18 inches tall, space about 12 inches apart

·         Extra long blooming season, starting in early summer and lasting until fall

·         Attracts butterflies

USES

One of the longest flowering perennials. Multiple pincushion shaped flowers produced all season. Very compact with ferny blue-gray foliage. A garden favorite.  Can also be used vases as cut flowers.
